Two Peace Country drivers in the top four of the aggregate at Medicine Hat WPCA races

Jun 22, 2024 | 12:22 AM

Drivers from the Peace Country sit third and fourth in the aggregate after two nights of racing at the World Professional Chuckwagon Association stop in Medicine Hat.

Chase Vigen holds down third spot, while Kirk Sutherland is fourth.

Evan Magee and Chance Bensmiller are first and second.

Magee had the second-fastest time of the night by two-one hundredths of a second behind D. J. King. Kirk was the third fastest on the night, Jordie Fike fourth.

The WPCA says in a release that the weather created “a strange Friday night of chuckwagon racing.”

The release goes on to say that “the evening started off with perfect weather and racetrack conditions. But at the midpoint of the program, the clouds opened up producing heavy rains and hail, slowing the racetrack down by nearly five seconds for the last six heats of the night.”

The top three wagons in the aggregate after Saturday night’s races will advance to Sunday’s championship final.
