Jun 24, 2024 | 2:33 PM

UPDATE 2:

Grande Prairie RCMP say Lakeland Drive is open again and a gas line leak has been repaired after a vehicle went into an excavation near the Lakeland Drive culvert today.

Mounties say it happened just before noon. There were no injuries.

Police had been on scene directing traffic before the road closure was put in place.

The investigation continues.

UPDATE:

City Hall in Grande Prairie says Lakeland Drive is closed to traffic from 123 Avenue to 95 Street.

This is because crews have been called to a crash at an excavation site at the Lakeland Drive culvert.

Grande Prairie RCMP says they are redirecting traffic in the area while ATCO crews respond to a gas leak.

No one was injured. Drivers are used to alternate routes like 92 or 100 Street to 132 Avenue as an alternate route.

Transit stops 616, 681 and 620 are temporarily closed.

The city says a further update on the status of the road will be provided tomorrow.

Grande Prairie RCMP is currently on the scene of a gas leak in the City.

This has led Mounties to redirect traffic on Lakeland Drive from 95 Street to 123 Avenue, while city crews make repairs.

RCMP says in the release the repairs should take two hours.

More updates are expected.
