County of Grande Prairie Council approves cell development for West County Regional Landfill

County of Grande Prairie Council has approved a different option than the one made by the West County Grande Prairie Solid Waste Management Authority, in regards to the future of the West County Regional Landfill.
At their meeting Monday, Council approved developing new cells for the landfill, rather than converting it into a transfer station, as was voted on by the Authority.
The landfill is currently closed due to a slope stability issue and is serving as a temporary transfer station.
Further discussion at the Authority level is warranted before any final decision on the landfill’s future can be made.
