Alberta RCMP urging motorists to drive responsibly over Canada Day long weekend

Jun 28, 2024 | 12:19 PM

Alberta RCMP is reminding drivers to stay safe over Canada Day long weekend.

On average in Alberta, one in five drivers involved in fatal collisions had been drinking prior.

Mounties say that before getting behind the wheel, motorists should remember impaired driving is not only criminal, but dangerous as drugs and alcohol can impair your judgement and reaction time.

Drivers should also be aware that refusing to provide a breath sample can result in a criminal charge and individuals with a Graduate Driver’s License must abide by the zero-tolerance law.
