Tournier wins Ponoka Stampede crown, Vigen aggregate winner

Chuckwagon driver from Duck Lake, Saskatchewan, Luke Tournier is the winner of the Ponoka Stampede.

He captured the crown with a run time of 1:16.25 Monday night in the Championship Final Heat, beating Chanse Vigen, Kurt Bensmiller, and Rae Croteau Jr.

It was the seventh time Tournier was in the final heat in Ponoka, and his first time to capture the Ponoka Stampede crown.

Hometown driver Vigen won the aggregate however, after posting the best 4-day aggregate time of 5:00.63. This was Vigen’s second year in a row to do so and takes home a 2024 GMC Truck courtesy of Summit Fleet.

The WPCA Pro Tour will resume for the Calgary Stampede July 5-14, for the Cowboys Rangeland Derby. Races will run each night at 8 p.m.
