Fire restriction in place for High Level Forest Area
A fire restriction is in effect for the High Level Forest Area and the wildfire danger level is very high.
Fire crews are currently responding to multiple blazes as recent lightning has caused a majority of the 35 active fires in the forest area.
Of these 35 wildfires, 16 are listed as out of control, 12 as being held, and five as under control. Firefighters do expect the wildfire behaviours to “challenge suppression efforts today.” (Friday, July 5)
Under this fire restriction, existing fire permits are now suspended and no new permits will be issued, however, safe wood campfires inside a fire ring in a campground, are still allowed.
