Peace Country cowboys to compete at the Calgary Stampede

The Greatest Outdoor Show On Earth gets going today (Friday, July 5).

The 270 contestants in the Calgary Stampede rodeo will include two cowboys from Fort St. John.

Stephen Culling will be in the steer wrestling while Jake Gardner will compete in bull riding. The rodeo competition will be divided into three pools. Culling and Gardner are both in Pool A, which starts today.

The 27 drivers in the Rangeland Derby chuckwagon races start their championship chase Friday night.

The group includes several with connections to the Peace, including Chanse Vigen; Kirk, Mitch and Dayton Sutherland; and Cody Ridsdale.
