Wildfire hazard now high in the GPFA
The wildfire hazard rating is now at high in the Grande Prairie Forest Area with the hot, windy weather.
The Wildfire Information Office is asking anyone with a fire permit to check the forecast before doing any burning.
Fire watchers say there is a chance smoke from fires burning in northern Alberta and B.C. could make its way south. FireSmoke Canada’s website tracks the path of wildfire smoke.
They are also reminding anyone who might want to set off fireworks that they must first get permission from a local forest officer. Not doing this can result in a $600 fine.
