Canada Beef, Canadian Cattle Association given AgriMarketing Program funding

Jul 9, 2024 | 3:17 PM

Two groups involved in the beef business are splitting $6 million being given by the federal government through the AgriMarketing Program.

A total of $5,865,110 is going to Canada Beef while $453,364 is going to the Canadian Cattle Association.

A release from the federal government says the two plan to promote Canadian beef in new and existing markets.

This will include advertising, trade missions, educational seminars and technical training.

That government release says more trade in foreign markets will mean more economic activity in Canada and help farmers and ranchers.

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada also says Canadian beef exports topped $5 billion in 2023, with the U.S., Japan, Mexico, South Korea and Vietnam the top five importers.

The AgriMarketing Program falls under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership, a $3.5 billion, five year agreement between the provincial, territorial and federal governments meant to help strengthen the agriculture sector.
