A Grande Prairie local spent this past weekend in Edmonton, where he took home first place in a provincial cycling race, the Sugar Boddy Classic.

Wilf Marquis competed in the Alberta Criterium Provincials (Sugar Boddy Classic) at Lynnwood Athletic Park on Saturday, July 6, an event where he took home second the year before.

Hosted by the Igregrari Cycling Club, Wilf completed this 28-lap, 33-kilometre closed circuit race, in a time of 47:24 keeping an average pace of 41 km/h.

With this win, Wilf also collected enough points to advance to the cat 1/2 Elite bracket and will start competing with the best cyclists in Alberta.
