Local Sports: Fairview Amateur Rodeo, football, baseball

Rodeo

The Fairview Amateur Rodeo is set for Friday through Sunday at the Waterhole Rodeo Grounds.

Events start at 6 p.m. Friday with local team roping, followed by BHRA and Ladies Ranch Bronc Riding.

On Saturday and Sunday, local barrels start at 10:30 a.m., followed by the WRA Rodeo at 12:30. Ladies Ranch Bronc Riding again Saturday after the WRA rodeo.

Football

The Peace Country Cowboys visit Cold Lake Saturday to conclude the regular season.

The Cowboys are 1-4 so far this season.

Wheatbelt Baseball League

Rycroft has advanced to the Wheatbelt Baseball League final after a 9-8 home win Thursday night over the County Brewers. The Rage won the best-of-five series 3-0.

Manning beat Peace River 4-3 at home last night and now leads that series 2-1.

A date for Game 4 has not been announced.

Reds

The U18 Reds are in Stoney Plain this weekend.

They play the Parkland Twins at 3 p.m. and the Webber Wildcats at 6 p.m. Saturday, then face the Wildcats again at noon on Sunday.

The U11 A Reds are at provincials in Leduc. They have games Friday at 3 p.m., Saturday at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and Sunday at 9 a.m.

The 13U A Reds are at provincials in Fort McMurray. Their first games are at 3 and 6 p.m. Friday with more games Saturday and Sunday. Game times and opponents will be decided after Friday’s games.
