New fire south of Grande Prairie, Range Road 51 fire rekindled

The County of Grande Prairie says two fires are being responded to by the County Regional Fire Service.

A new fire (GCU-010) was spotted east of the County’s fireguard and is being taken care of by Alberta Wildfire air tankers and fire crews from the County.

One fire on Range Road 51 (GCU-013) from Saturday has re-kindled on the north bank of the Wapiti River. Hot spots were detected and crews were working all afternoon on Sunday, which is located south of the fireguard.

There is no threat to the public for these two fires.

Fire crews will work all Monday on the blazes, and the public is asked to stay away from the area and to not fly personal aircrafts to allow firefighters to work uninterrupted.
