Wildfire smoke blankets province, heat to let off Monday night
Jul 22, 2024 | 7:22 AM
Much of central and northern Alberta are now under two weather alerts: air quality advisory and the prolonged heat warning.
There is no pinpointed fire to blame the smoke for, as multiple fires burn across western Canada contributing to the smoky blanket over the province.
The air quality in Grande Prairie sits at 10+ for Monday, which is High Risk. It is expected to get worse as the day goes on.
Heat advisories also cover the entire province. Environment Canada predicts relief from the heatwave starting Monday night in the northwestern portion of the province, with a low of 16 degrees in Grande Prairie, and Tuesday’s high of 23 degrees, as well as chances of showers till Thursday.
