One-for-one trade

Grande Prairie Storm off-season trade brings home a local

Jul 23, 2024 | 11:20 AM

The Grande Prairie Storm have made an off-season trade, to bring on a Peace Country local.

The Storm traded 19-year-old forward Marcello Giorgi to the Whitecourt Wolverines and acquired 20-year-old Jarred Fiest for his fourth and final year in the AJHL.

Feist, a 6’3″ forward had a total of 30 points last season in 47 games with Whitecourt, putting up 12 goals and 18 helpers. Over his three seasons with the Wolverines, he played 148 games, raking in 62 points.

Storm General Manager Mike Bomersback said Feist “has a great two-way game” and adding him to their roster makes the team a “little older, a little bigger and stronger up front.”

“He uses his size well and we feel he can come in here and put up some good offensive numbers as well. Having watched him play against us the last 3 years, it will be nice to have him wearing a Storm jersey next year and have him on our side.”

Feist is very familiar with the area as his family currently resides in Grande Prairie, and he is “looking forward to playing in a Storm jersey this year. The city and its fan base is great, and I couldn’t be more excited to get started. Go Storm Go!“

Storm fans can see Feist in action in the blue and yellow for the first time, on August 25, at the Brian Nash inter-squad game.

In the same release, Bomersback thanked Giorgi for his contributions throughout last season and wished him the best of luck with the Wolverines organization.
