358 structures destroyed in Jasper says Jasper National Park post

Jul 26, 2024 | 1:52 PM

A new post on the Jasper National Park social media page says 358 out of 1,113 structures in the town have been destroyed, or around 30 per cent.

The hospital, museum and schools were all saved and are still standing. The post is thanking firefighters for their work to minimize the damage.

The post says specifics on homes are not available, but adds it understands that “this is an incredibly difficult and challenging time” for Jasper residents.

The post adds the priority for the 154 firefighters working in the community is to put out hot spots on the outskirts of town and in the trees nearby.
