Alberta radio stations come together for ‘Day of Caring for Jasper’

Jul 29, 2024 | 12:30 PM

Every major radio station across Alberta will, on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, hold a major fundraising effort for Jasper, a small resort town and national park that was ravaged by wildfire last week.

The Alberta Day of Caring for Jasper, an effort led by Pattison Media, will feature two ways to help: a bottle drive and direct Canadian Red Cross donations.

Anyone wishing to participate can bring their empty recyclable bottles and cans to any Alberta bottle depot and say “these are for Jasper.”

The drive will run from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with proceeds going to the Red Cross and those impacted by the wildfire, according to organizers.

All donations on Wednesday will be matched by both the provincial and federal governments, so donations made will have triple the impact.

Those who are interested in dropping off bottles can find the nearest depot at FindADepot.ca.

The drive will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with proceeds going to the Canadian Red Cross and those impacted by the wildfire, according to organizers.

Plastic pop bottles, aluminum pop cans, juice boxes and pouches, milk cartons and glass juice bottles are among the items that can be dropped off, according to the Alberta Bottle Depot Association.

Drinkable yogurt containers, water bottles, alcohol bottles and vegetable juice cans are also included on a list from the association.

People can listen on air and online to Big Country 93.1 and 98.9 Rewind Radio.
