RCMP in British Columbia says a man suspected of a Fort St John hotel robbery was apprehended in Fox Creek all within a 12-hour time period on Tuesday.

Mounties in Fort St John got a report just after 6 a.m. local time, that a man had entered a hotel on Alaksa Road North in the 8500 block, and threatened the front desk clerk with a large knife and demanded cash.

The suspect grabbed a set of vehicle keys from the office of the hotel before leaving the building.

Police officers attended the scene immediately but the suspect left before they arrived.

Officers determined the suspect stole the vehicle associated with the keys and left the area travelling southbound on Highway 97.

Patrols were conducted by RCMP, but were unsuccessful in locating the stolen vehicle.

At 4 p.m. the same day, the Fort St John detachment received information that the suspect and stolen vehicle were found in Fox Creek RCMP.

The suspect was arrested and is being held in Alberta for robbery and breach of probation, and charges are being forwarded to B.C. for approval.

The name of the suspect was not released by Mounties as the charges have not yet been approved.
