Local baseball player headed to Quebec for national championship

A Sexsmith teen is headed to Quebec City to play in Baseball Canada’s Women’s Championship.

Seventeen-year-old Jesseka Verhaeghe was selected to be on the Women’s Open Roster for Team Alberta. Verhaeghe plays in the Grande Prairie Minor Baseball League.

Team Alberta’s first game is Thursday morning against Team Ontario 1. It starts at 9:30 a.m. MDT.
