Slave Lake man facing four charges after assaulting security guard

Police in Slave Lake say in the early morning hours of Thursday, August 15, officers were dispatched to a report of assault in that community.

A security guard had approached a man trying to set up a small encampment on the sidewalk and an altercation took place. The man then assaulted the security guard.

As a result, RCMP members arrested the man.

Forty five-year-old John Yellowknee of Slave Lake is facing charges of:

  • Assault
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Fail to comply with a release order condition

Yellowknee was brought before a Justice of the Peace and was released on a release order. He is to be in Slave Lake court on August 28, 2024, for this incident.
