Grande Prairie Forest Area returns to high wildfire risk

Aug 30, 2024 | 4:23 PM

Alberta Wildfire is warning that the Grande Prairie Forest Area has returned to a high danger rating.

Due to gusty winds and drying conditions, the risk of a wild fire is high and residents and visitors are urged to make sure any campfire they start is fully extinguished.

Up to 45 km/h gusting winds are expected overnight and firefighters will remain on alert for new wildfires while monitoring the current ones.

Of the 98 wildfires reported in the Grande Prairie Forest Area, two remain under control while the rest have been extinguished.
