Fatal plane crash near Fort Vermillion

On August 31, 2024, at 8:00 p.m., Mounties in Fort Vermillion were made aware of a place crash that had happened in a field near Township Road 1090 and Range Road 152.

Upon arrival to the scene, emergency workers found the pilot and sole occupant of the plane deceased.

The crash has affected power to all homes and several rural areas in Fort Vermillion and workers are in the process of restoring power. Customers of service are unable to use wireless or landline phones.

Grande Prairie’s 911 says the estimated time of repair is 12:30 p.m. on September 1, 2024. If you need to call 911, report to the nearest police detachment or use Emergency SOS via satellite on applicable devices.

RCMP remain on scene at the crash for the Transportation Safety Board investigators.
