Vigen one run from winning World Chuckwagon Championship

Sep 1, 2024 | 9:36 AM

Grande Prairie product Chanse Vigen is mere hours away from capturing his second consecutive World Chuckwagon Championship title. He sits atop the World Standings with 1389.5 points; 84 points ahead of second-place 4-time World Champion Jason Glass.

There is only one run left to go to decide who will capture the 2024 World Chuckwagon Championship crown tonight in Ponoka.

Alongside the title race, the Wild West WPCA World Chuckwagon Finals Aggregate Championship and Century Downs “Winner’s Zone” Series Playoff Round are also being raced for.

The Wild West WPCA World Chuckwagon Finals Aggregate Championship leader is Jason Glass, with a three run total of 3:44.68, just one-quarter of a second less than Jamie Laboucane. The driver with the best four-day time after Sunday night will be declared the champion of the Wild West WPCA World Chuckwagon Finals Aggregate Championship.

In the Century Downs “Winner’s Zone” Series Playoff round, Jamie Laboucane still leads with 33 points after three runs. He is ahead of Glass by 2 points, and 4 points ahead of Vigen. If any ties occur after Sunday’s run for the top four spots, aggregate timing will be used to break ties amongst the drivers with the same amount of points.

The final heat for the Century Downs “Winner’s Zone” Series Championship Final Heat will go Monday afternoon, where $50,000 is up for grabs and the prestigious title of being the Century Downs “Winner’s Zone” Series Champion.
