The College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta hearing tribunal has ordered the cancellation of a former AHS North Zone Medical Officer’s pratice permit and registration.

Albert de Villiers had his practice permit and registration cancelled as CPSA’s Complaint Director initiated a complaint about de Villiers following his criminal conviction.

de Villiers was found guilty by the Alberta Court of Kings Bench of sexual interference of a person under the age of 16 in 2023.

He is currently incarcerated and was ordered to pay 100 per cent of the costs of the CPSA’s investigation and hearing.

de Villiers served as the AHS North Zone Medical Officer from 2004 to 2020, with his base of operations in Grande Prairie.
