Emergency department disruptions at two Peace Country hospitals

Multiple emergency departments at Peace Region health complexes are experiencing disruptions this week.

Alberta Health Services says that due to an inability to secure physician coverage, the Central Peace Health Complex emergency department in Spirit River is temporarily disrupted from now until 8:00 a.m. Friday.

Starting tomorrow (Friday, September 6), the Fairview Health Complex emergency department will be without on-site physician coverage from 7:00 a.m. Friday to 7:00 a.m Saturday, then again from 7:00 a.m. Monday to 7:00 a.m. Tuesday.

During both disruptions, nursing staff will remain on site to provide triage, assessments and referrals.

AHS adds that these disruptions may be cancelled if coverage is found.
