GPPL re-establishes 1000 Books Before Kindergarten initiative
The Grande Prairie Public Library is bringing back its early literacy initiative, 1000 Books Before Kindergarten.
The program is meant to encourage parents to read with their pre-kindergarten kids using a tracking booklet from the library and earning prizes for every 100 books read.
The library is running the program to help improve kid’s language and cognitive skills with early exposure to reading, foster closer relationships with parents and children through shared reading, and to build a strong foundation in literacy for children about to start school.
Visit the Grande Prairie Public Library to sign up, get your tracking materials, and start reading today! If you or your organization are interested in becoming a sponsor and contributing to 1000 Books Before Kindergarten, contact GPPL at 780-357-7456 or childrens@gppl.ca.
