Red Flag Watch issued for Grande Prairie Forest Area

A new Red Flag Watch has been issued for the Grande Prairie Forest Area in advance of critical fire danger.

The watch was issued due to dry seasonal conditions and high gusty winds, which can see fire behaviours quickly change and can make fire fighting conditions overly challenging.

The wildfire danger rating for the GPFA is currently at high.

Fire permit holders are asked to postpone any burns while the winds remain consistently high.

At this time, there are five wildfires burning in the GPFA. Four are listen as being held, and one is considered under control.
