The City of Grande Prairie is entering the next phase of its 2024 Storm Drainage Rehabilitation program at Muskoseepi Park.

Starting Wednesday September 11, the city will focus on three key areas in sequence.

The city will be temporarily closing the trail between 99 and 96 Avenues while the existing storm outfall, manhole and a portion of the storm sewer are removed and replaced. Repairs will also be made to the existing trail and landscaping.

After that, crews will remove the trail between 89 and 87 Avenues to replace it with a new trail farther from the creek bank.

Finally, workers will remove the Heritage Museum outfall. The damaged storm line beneath the museum will be abandoned and a new storm line from the end of 102 Avenue to a new outfall north of the museum will be installed.

Mayor Jackie Clayton says these improvements will ensure a safer and more enjoyable environment for park visitors and underscore the city’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and upgrading the city’s infrastructure.
