Grande Prairie RCMP ask for public’s help identifying hit-and-run suspect

Sep 21, 2024 | 9:00 AM

Grande Prairie RCMP are looking for the driver of a blue sedan, possibly, a Honda Civic, that was involved in a hit-and-run on Saturday, September 14.

At 8 p.m. on Saturday Mounties say they received a report of a 13-year-old pedestrian being hit by a vehicle and thrown into the air on 108 Avenue, between 103 and 104 Street.

The male driver then stopped his vehicle and apologized before fleeing the scene.

Luckily, the youth only sustained minor injuries and was treated by EMS at the scene.

Now, Mounties are seeking dashcam footage, eyewitnesses, or anyone with information about the driver, or the blue sedan; and ask them to contact the Grande Prairie Detachment, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

A description of the driver was supplied by RCMP, along with a low quality photo of the suspect vehicle:

  • Blue sedan, possibly a Honda Civic
  • The driver was male, with a darker complexion;
  • The driver is reported to have dark hair and a long beard
