Two new heated bus shelters in Grande Prairie

Sep 23, 2024 | 12:12 PM

City transit users have two new places to warm up and stay out of the cold in Grande Prairie while waiting for the bus.

Two heated bus shelters have been installed at the Transit Hub near the Towne Centre Mall.

These new shelters, along with pre-existing heated shelters at NWP and CKC, will give bus riders protection from the elements, especially during our colder months.

Mayor Jackie Clayton says; “In our cold climate, these shelters offer a safe, warm space for riders as they wait for their bus, supporting a safe, inclusive and caring community with supports for all.”

The shelters are fully enclosed and have been designed to accomodate various mobility devices. They also have automatic door openers and will be available during regular transit service times, and locked outside of the transit schedule hours.

“The new heated bus stop shelters are a welcome addition to our downtown infrastructure,” Clayton adds.
