Ivy Lake home sustains significant damage from structure fire

Sep 24, 2024 | 12:44 PM

The Grande Prairie Fire Department has confirmed a structure fire Saturday in the Ivy Lake area was caused by accident.

At around 8:30 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of a fire on the east side of the city, and found a house filled with smoke.

The home was unoccupied at the time

Responders were able to put out the blaze without it spreading to nearby properties.

A family pet was lost in the fire and the house sustained significant damage.

The fire department advises that common causes for house fires in 2024 include burnt food, malfunctioning dryers, cigarettes in planters, and overheating RC car batteries.
