Professional Bull Rider Dakota Buttar takes Round 1 of Peace Country Invitational

The Professional Bull Riders Canada Cup Series event got underway at Bonnetts Energy Centre in Grande Prairie Friday.

Reigning PBR Canada Champion Dakota Buttar of Eatonia, Saskatchewan won Round 1 of the Peace Country Invitational, entering the top 5 for the 2024 Championship.

Buttar rose from No. 7 to No. 4 in the national standings and is now within 526.5 points of No. 1 Nick Tetz of Calgary, Alberta.

Tetz meanwhile tied with No. 2 Cody Coverchuk of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan for 3^rd place in the first round.

Ashton Sahli of Red Deer, Alberta won second place while Tyler Craig of Crossfield, Alberta rounded out the Round 1 top 5
