Mercer Peace River taking downtime for repairs
Oct 1, 2024 | 11:59 AM
The Mercer pulp mill near Peace River says they have gone into downtime as of September 25, following a mechanical failure of the mill’s digester. The digester cooks raw materials to produce chemical pulp.
Necessary repairs are needed to the digester and the company expects them to be completed by mid-October.
In the meantime, NBHK (Northern Bleached Hardwood Kraft) production has been reduced by approximately 45,000 tonnes during this period of downtime.
Insurance is expected to cover the expected repairs and business interruption, according to Mercer.
