Quebec bill aims to stop people from sharing intimate images without consent
QUEBEC CITY — Quebec’s justice minister says his new bill would give people a simple and fast way to stop intimate photos and videos of them from being shared without their consent.
Simon Jolin-Barrette says the bill, introduced today, would allow people to complete a form online or at a courthouse and quickly obtain an order from a judge.
He says a judge can issue an order to stop the sharing of the image or video, to have it destroyed, or to de-index a hyperlink to the image or video.
Jolin-Barrette says it should take hours or a few days for an application to be processed and an order to enter into force.
