Shelter in place order for Wabasca

Update Wednesday at 10:15 p.m. – The shelter in place advisory has ended according to Wabasca RCMP.

There is no immediate threat to the community and the circumstances that revolved around the shelter in place order is being investigated.

RCMP have issued a shelter in place notice for people in Wabasca.

Police are investigating a firearms complaint.

Mounties issued the following news release Wednesday evening:

Bigstone Cree First Nation – Alta. Members of the Wabasca RCMP Detachment are asking all persons situated on Wabasca First Nation to immediately SHELTER IN PLACE in place as police respond to a report of a firearms complaint in the area.

Information regarding this investigation is in the early stages, occupants are asked to remain in doors & report any suspicious activity or persons immediately to the Wabasca RCMP.

An update will be sent out as soon as new information is available.
