Local runners dominate at Grizzly Ultra Marathon in Canmore

A number of local runners have made their mark on the podium this past Thanksgiving weekend in southern Alberta.

The Grizzly Ultra Marathon ran over Saturday and Sunday, with racers running a challenging 50 kilometres.

On Saturday, two Grande Prairie women place first and second in the Solo Age 30-39 Female category:

• 1st – Caroline Wheeler, with a time of 5:08:42.8
• 2nd – Stephanie Murphy, with a time of 5:22:46.2.

In the Solo Age 40-49 Female category, Grande Prairie’s Sarah Pipegrass-Gander came in third with a time of 6:38:54.1.

On Sunday, two Grande Prairie men place second and third in the Solo Age 40-49 Male category:

• 2nd – James Cameron, with a time of 5:02:11.3
• 3rd – Rax Redding, with a time of 5:11:01.9

Another first-place finish was accomplished in the Solo Age 40-49 Female category on Sunday by Kim Cameron with the fastest time out of the Swan City runners; 5:01:41.4.
