Storm, NWJHL, NPHL opening night, Wolves soccer on this weekend

Storm

The Grande Prairie Storm are on the road for two games this weekend.

The Storm are in Drayton Valley for a 7:00 p.m. face-off on Friday, then travel to Camrose Saturday for a game that will start at 6:00 p.m.

Grande Prairie is in first place in the North Division after eight wins, a loss and a shootout loss so far this season, good for 17 points. The Storm are four points up on second place Whitecourt.

The Wolverines are in Olds Friday and Drumheller Saturday.

NWJHL

In the Northwest Junior Hockey League on Friday, Peace River is in Beaverlodge, Fairview is in Fort St. John and La Crete is in Dawson Creek.

On Saturday, La Crete will visit the Wheat Kings, Beaverlodge is in Sexsmith, Fairview travels to Dawson Creek and Fort St. John is in Peace River.

All those games start a 8:00 p.m.

Sunday, La Crete in Sexsmith starts at 2:00 p.m.

NPHL

It is opening weekend for the North Peace Hockey League.

On Saturday, Spirit River visits Grande Prairie and Dawson Creek is in Fort St. John.

The Rangers are the defending league champions.

Face-off will be at 8:30 p.m. for both games.

Wolves

Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves soccer wraps up the regular season on the road against NAIT Saturday and Sunday.

The games will be played at the St. Albert Soccer Association fields.

Start times will be 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and noon and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, with the women’s game first both days

Cross country running next competes at the ACAC championships October 26 in Calgary.

Volleyball and basketball regular seasons start November 1.
