Senators appear to be playing with more confidence, hold off Lightning 5-4
OTTAWA — Unlike previous years, the Ottawa Senators appear more confident in their ability to hold their ground rather than falter under pressure.
New head coach Travis Green has helped guide the team to a solid 3-2-0 start this season, with the latest victory a nervy 5-4 decision over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday afternoon.
Drake Batherson, who scored twice and added an assist for Ottawa, said the squad is focused.
“I think just staying composed on the bench,” he said. “Maybe in years past we’d get a little fired up and now we’re a few years older with everyone. (The) new coaching staff does a great job of (helping with) that.
