Fairview emergency department without an onsite physician October 21-23

The Fairview Health Complex emergency department will be without an on-site physician for several days this week.

Alberta Health Services says that because of an inability to secure physician coverage, there will be no on-site physician from 7:00 a.m. Monday, October 21 to 7:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 23.

Nursing staff will remain on-site to provide urgent triage, assessment and referrals for patients to alternate emergency departments.

As well, 911 callers with medical emergency situations will be re-routed to neighbouring facilities.

AHS says If more coverage is found, the disruption may be cancelled.
