Oct 23, 2024 | 1:19 PM

This weekend, the Downtown Association’s annual Halloween Spooktacular event will return to City Centre.

On Saturday, October 26, free family Halloween-themed activities are planned to take place at the Bowes from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; a costume contest for kids twelve and under, a haunted house, and roaming children’s entertainment.

Local businesses along 100 Avenue will also hand candy to trick-or-treaters from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. while free hotdogs, cookies and refreshments will be handed out from 1:30 to 3 p.m.

In the release, Executive Director for the Downtown Association Wendy Bosch called this a “long-standing tradition,” that they are thrilled to participate in, and thanked the City of Grande Prairie for joining them in hosting the event.

In the same release, she also discussed the importance of this event to the Downtown Association; “Children’s infectious enthusiasm for dressing up is something we adults truly cherish, and this innovative approach ensures we can uphold this fun event while keeping safety a priority. Our businesses share a collective desire to give back to our community. It epitomizes the essence of small business values, contributing to our community’s betterment.”

Doors to the Bowes will open early, starting at 10:30 a.m.

Anyone interested in taking part in this “family-friendly” Halloween event, and would like more information can visit the City’s website.
