The Canadian Mental Health Association, Alberta Northwest received a $10,000 donation on Thursday, October 24.

CMHA was presented the cheque at the GP100’s annual meeting, where they were chosen from a group of three charities to be the most deserving.

GP100 is a group of over 100 local community members putting forward a $100 donation every quarter and hosting a meeting. Three local charities are then invited to present on the work they do in the community, and GP100 then chooses one deserving organization.

According to GP100, CMHA was selected as the recipient this quarter due to its work in the community; as there are “so many options available for everybody of any age,” and “against all of the stigma, this group of individuals made mental health sound like fun!”

GP100 said they “couldn’t be prouder to support such a deserving organization, the way that they bounce ideas off of each other and brainstorm new programs despite a lack of funding from the government, it is truly inspirational.”

In a post on social media, CMHA said; “We appreciate the support from your group and the community! You are a true inspiration! We will ensure this donation goes where it needs and will definitely pay it forward!”
