Harvest “effectively” finished in the Peace

Oct 30, 2024 | 12:00 PM

The October 25 crop report from AFSC says harvest is “effectively” complete in the Peace.

The report says all of the canola, barley, spring wheat, and dry peas have been combined, with 99.9 per cent of the oats done.

The five-year average for completion as of October 25 is 88 per cent, with the 10-year average at 85 per cent.

Yields in the Peace are reported at just above the five-year average. Yields across Alberta are just below the five-year average.

The report also says across the province the amount of oats and dry peas in the top two grades is ahead of the five-year average, while the amount of spring wheat, barley, and canola in the top two grades is below the five-year average.

The report says all areas in Alberta, except for the Peace, would benefit from more moisture.
