Serious motor vehicle collision at 100 Ave/116 St intersection

UPDATE at 9:10 a.m. – Grande Prairie RCMP says the intersection of 110 Avenue and 116 Street has been re-opened. Mounties would like to thank everyone for their cooperation and the assisting responding agencies for their help to re-open the roadway in a timely fashion.

Grande Prairie RCMP say at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday October 30, they are on scene at an accident at the intersection of 116 Street and 100 Avenue in the city.

There is no word on how many vehicles are involved in the collision, but Mounties say it is serious.

At the time police notified the newsroom, traffic cannot get through the area.

A detour has been established but RCMP ask drivers to seek alternative routes as the intersection is expected to be closed for an unknown period of time.

Callers to the newsroom also report collisions in the Westgate/Power Centre area, and 116 Street/Highway 43 traffic circle this morning.
