Alberta records two wins in championship pool play at the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship

UPDATE: Alberta beat Newfoundland and Labrador 6-4 in its final championship pool game.

Alberta now has a record of 7-3 and will advance to Saturday’s semi-final round against Saskatchewan..

Alberta has recorded two straight wins in championship pool play at the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship.

Kurt Balderston’s Sexsmith rink defeated B.C. 8-2 Friday morning after beating previously unbeaten Saskatchewan 7-3 Thursday night.

Alberta is now 6-3 and in fourth place in the championship pool, two games up on Prince Edward Island with one game left to play.

Alberta plays Newfoundland and Labrador in its final championship round game Friday.

The semi-finals and gold and bronze medal games will be played on Saturday.

St. Catherines, Ontario is the host city.

Team Alberta also includes lead Stephanie Malekoff (pictured left), second Daylan Vavrek (pictured right), and third Janais DeJong.
