Heavy police presence in Grouard

Update at 10 a.m. – The High Prairie RCMP say they have apprehended a suspect and they are now in police custody. This incident is now over.

Mounties with the High Prairie detachment say as of 8 a.m. Friday November 8, they are in the Hamlet of Grouard looking for a suspect.

There is a heavy police presence in the community and surrounding area, as a number of resources are being used to apprehend a certain individual and to protect the public.

RCMP asks all to refrain from posting photos of responding officers on social media.

Police say they understand how these situations can make people and communities feel uneasy, but want to assure they are working tirelessly to locate the suspect.

They ask if anyone has information on suspicious activity or tips, to direct them to the High Prairie RCMP, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
