The County of Grande Prairie has released the results of the 2024 census.

As of July 2, 2024, the county has recorded a population of 26,701, a 26 per cent increase from the last municipal census in 2012.

Collected with an over 95 per cent response rate, the data shows over 5,500 new residents moving to the county.

Other highlights from the census show that approximately 31 percent of county residents live within hamlets like Clairmont, the largest age groups in the county are 45–64-year-olds and 25-44-year-olds, and 62 percent of residents have access to a family physician within the Grande Prairie region.

County Reeve Bob marshall says the census reflects the unique character and the strength of the county and that they are grateful for the community’s participation.

Carol Gabriel, the County’s General Manager of Corporate services and strategy says the census results will provide them with a valuable foundation for making informed decisions and enable them to serve their residents.
