Trespassers arrested by late night patrol in downtown Grande Prairie

Nov 13, 2024 | 12:00 PM

Two individuals are awaiting court dates after RCMP officers found them trespassing on commercial property in the beginning of October.

At approximately 3:00 a.m., on October 7, Mounties were conducting late night proactive patrols in Grande Prairie’s downtown core when they observed the two individuals doing illegal activity.

An investigation into the matter led officers to arrest the pair and seize several items found on them.

This included: drug trafficking paraphernalia, break-in tools, 15 grams of suspected fentanyl, and bear mace.

Resident of Grande Prairie, 22-year-old Dameon Kruger was arrested on three outstanding warrants.

Forty-two-year-old Cameron Pike of Grande Prairie has been charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Fail to comply with release order X6 (stemming from previous trafficking charges)
  • Unlawful possession of identity documents X2

The two men are scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie’s Alberta Court of Justice. RCMP did not release court dates or whether they were released/kept in custody.

Inspector Mark MacDougald, Operations Officer says; “The results of this proactive enforcement initiative is another example of targeted crime reduction strategies the Grande Prairie Detachment utilizes in collaboration with business owners, stakeholders and enforcement partners. Property crime such as this cause personal hardship to the business owners with direct impacts to the greater community.”

RCMP wants to remind community members that if they witness suspicious activity, they are encouraged to contact their local detachment.
