Slave Lake RCMP responding to encampment

Nov 22, 2024 | 6:00 AM

Slave Lake RCMP is working with the Town of Slave Lake to respond to an encampment discovered on town property earlier this month.

Mounties says at this time, there is no risk to the public, and officers are actively engaging with individuals in the encampment to ensure their safety and direct those in need to the appropriate social services.

Police say they are also verifying the status of individuals to address any outstanding legal matters in a respectful way.

The ‘K’ Division Community Safety and Well-Being Unit is working collaboratively with the town to not only address this situation, but also provide support to the region to identify and implement longer-term solutions in the future.

Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to Slave Lake RCMP at 780-849-3045.
