Nitehawk opening, local hockey, last Wolves games of 2024 on this weekend’s local sports schedule

Nitehawk

Saturday is opening day at Nitehawk.

The hill is open Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

The Tube Zone is open from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.to 4:30 p.m. both days.

Storm

The Storm are on the road for two games this weekend.

Grande Prairie is in Lloydminster Friday and Bonnyville Saturday. Both games start at 7:00 p.m.

The Storm and Whitecourt are tied for first in the North Division and the overall league lead, with 34 points. Grande Prairie has three games in hand.

The Wolverines are off this weekend.

NWJHL

In the Northwest Junior Hockey League Friday, Wheat Kings are in Fairview, Peace River in Fort St. John and La Crete in Sexsmith.

On Saturday, Sexsmith is in Beaverlodge, La Crete at the Wheat Kings, Fairview in Peace River and Fort St. John in Dawson Creek.

All those games start at 8:00 p.m.

There are two games on Sunday with La Crete in Beaverlodge and the Wheat Kings in Dawson Creek. Both games start at 2:00 p.m.

NPHL

The North Peace Hockey League schedule resumes Saturday with Spirit River in Valleyview, Grande Prairie in Manning, Dawson Creek in Falher and Fox Creek in Fort St. John.

Those games all start at 8:30 p.m.

There were three games Thursday night, even with the stormy weather.

Fox Creek edged visiting Grande Prairie 5-4, Falher won 8-2 in High Prairie and Dawson Creek beat Fort St. John 13-1.

Wolves

The Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves basketball teams will host two Calgary schools this weekend.

St. Mary’s University is here on Friday, then Ambrose University on Saturday.

Games start at 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. both days, starting with the women’s games.

Volleyball is at Ambrose University Saturday at 6:00 p.m. and 8 p.m., also starting with the women’s game.

These will be the last games of the 2024 part of the schedule for the Wolves volleyball and basketball teams.
