Flash freeze warning in effect

Dec 3, 2024 | 11:16 AM

The Peace Region is currently under a flash freeze warning, put in effect by Environment Canada.

It was issued as recent snowfall is expected to melt throughout the day, however, “the current warm temperatures are expected to fall rapidly.”

Overnight local forecasts call for a low of minus 13, minus 20 with the wind chill and a chance of freezing rain.

Enviroment Canada says this will then cause the “melted snow and slush to freeze,” making highways, roads, walkways and parking lots slippery.

Enviroment Canada suggests anyone travelling, does so with caution.

The flash freeze warning is also in effect for the BC Peace, and some of western Alberta, stretching down to Hinton and as far east as Little Smokey.

Anyone planning to travel during this warning can plan a safe route using 511 Alberta.
