Freezing rain warning replaces flash freeze

Dec 3, 2024 | 2:30 PM

A freezing rain warning is now in effect for the parts of the Peace region. That includes the County of Grande Prairie and MD of Greenview, plus all the communities within those borders.

Flash freeze warnings remain in place for the Willmore Wilderness Park and the Hinton area.

Enviroment Canada had originally issued a flash freeze warning, as warm temperatures with a large overnight drop were expected.

However, the temperature dropped sooner than anticipated, which changed the warning from a flash freeze to freezing rain.

Slippery conditions are still expected. Enviroment Canada recommends anyone on the roads watch for tail lights and maintain a safe following distance from other vehicles.

Conditions are expected to get better by tomorrow afternoon. (Wednesday, December 4)

A flash freeze warning is still in effect for parts of western Alberta.
